Bubbles: The Therapy Superstars!
What Parents See:
An outdoor blast
A few minutes of giggles and fun
Possibly a bubble-spilling fiasco with a tear or two (we’ve all been there!)
What SLPs See:
One of the most versatile therapy tools out there
Adaptable for nearly any speech and language target
Delightful for kids of almost any age (seriously, who can resist bubbles?)
SLP Tip:
Early Words & Sounds: Bubble up the excitement while practicing simple words like “up,” “pop,” “bubble,” “in,” “more,” “me,” “you,” “do,” “mama,” “dada,” “my turn,” and “all done!”
Early Concepts: Make learning fun with concepts like big/small, high/low, up/down, and locations such as “in front,” “behind,” “under,” “on top,” and “in between.”
Understanding Questions: Pop in some practice with yes/no questions or “wh” questions. Try asking, “Where does mommy blow? High or low?” or “Do you want a big bubble? Yes or no?”
Initiation: Encourage your child to request more bubbles or say “me” or “bubbles” to get the party started.
Turn-Taking: Share one bubble jar to practice waiting for their turn and enjoying the bubble-blowing together.
Joint Attention & Play: Dive into the bubble fun together, fostering shared joy and interactive play!
Let the bubbles work their magic, turning therapy into an engaging and giggle-filled experience! 🌟🫧
