Bubbles

Bubbles: The Therapy Superstars!

What Parents See:

  • An outdoor blast

  • A few minutes of giggles and fun

  • Possibly a bubble-spilling fiasco with a tear or two (we’ve all been there!)

What SLPs See:

  • One of the most versatile therapy tools out there

  • Adaptable for nearly any speech and language target

  • Delightful for kids of almost any age (seriously, who can resist bubbles?)

SLP Tip:

  • Early Words & Sounds: Bubble up the excitement while practicing simple words like “up,” “pop,” “bubble,” “in,” “more,” “me,” “you,” “do,” “mama,” “dada,” “my turn,” and “all done!”

  • Early Concepts: Make learning fun with concepts like big/small, high/low, up/down, and locations such as “in front,” “behind,” “under,” “on top,” and “in between.”

  • Understanding Questions: Pop in some practice with yes/no questions or “wh” questions. Try asking, “Where does mommy blow? High or low?” or “Do you want a big bubble? Yes or no?”

  • Initiation: Encourage your child to request more bubbles or say “me” or “bubbles” to get the party started.

  • Turn-Taking: Share one bubble jar to practice waiting for their turn and enjoying the bubble-blowing together.

  • Joint Attention & Play: Dive into the bubble fun together, fostering shared joy and interactive play!

Let the bubbles work their magic, turning therapy into an engaging and giggle-filled experience! 🌟🫧
